1. Introduction
For my wife's grandmother's 90th birthday, I composed this piece in tribute to a woman who has always felt like my own grandmother. Her deep love of Bach inspired me to create something simple to play—a Prelude and Fugue that echoes his tradition. The tonality of D major was chosen to give it a majestic character, and it contains exactly 45 bars—or 90 quavers (eighth notes for my American friends 🙂).
